Embrace

I went to an awesome women's event at church last weekend. Christine Caine from Hillsong church was the guest speaker. She is just fantastic! If you have never heard her, you need to check some of her sermons out. This theme for the women's event was Embrace. It was truly just so neat, everything NLC does goes above and beyond. It was played up with black and yellow color scheme, and all cast members were to wear those colors. My sis did a cute opening act, she was to give out door prizes, singing bee style. These door prizes were not your usual, they had a staged living room set up with black and yellow and if you won the challenge you could choose items from the set up. I had my eye on some lamps, but no way I would show up all the girls with my amazing voice! Te,he!

No, truly our church has the most gifted singers/band out there. I know I'm bragging alot on New Life, but it really seems like God has his hand on this church and these awesome people. I am posting a video, from our Mother's Day at church, this guy is one of my favorites. He has other You Tube videos, check some of them out they are a scream.

But anyhow after worship, Christine spoke on Embrace. She recalled of two major events that happened last year that caused her to take a whole new perspective on things. First off, she is a strong woman, alot stronger than I think I would be. When she was born, she was left in the hospital and all that is on her birth certificate is a number. Then from age three to fifteen she was sexually abused by several men, in her family I believe. She came to Christ when she was older and has been in the ministry for 20 years now.

Her first event was when she was in an airport in Greece and she saw posters on the wall of girls that were missing because of sex trafficking. Once she looked into how much this kind of thing was happening across the world she knew she had to make a difference. She started the A21 Campaign against sex trafficking, which by 2010 is believed to be the biggest crime world wide. Check out this website, and see what all we can do stop this from happening to more young women and men.

The next event, which hit close to home with me, was her saying how she knew none of her neighbors. She realized she didn't have to travel the world to witness, that down her street their may be people who need a friend. I too know every little of our neighbors. I know that sounds awful, but we haven't lived in the neighborhood long and I'm not the outgoing type to just ring someones door. Christine told a funny story though, how that is exactly what she did. She simply went next door and asked this stay at home mom of three young children if there was anything she could do. This mom started to sob, and immediately invited her in. She said how the baby had colic and never slept, and her husband worked long hours. I found my self tearing up, because being a mother of two young children myself, I have been there. I realized that there are other mothers in this neighborhood that I need to meet and build a network of support and prayer. We sometimes have people right under our nose that need prayer and comfort. I decide I could Embrace, I have been praying all week for the opportunities and courage to simply ring someones door.

I know long story of the event, but it was so awesome I had to share, since we couldn't all be there. If Christine is ever in your area, she is a great speaker, I know everyone could gain something from her sermons. Lastly, they handed out a yellow bracelet to all the ladies and a great dessert of lemon sorbet.

Poor Hermie

I am sad to say a member of our family died yesterday. Klay's hermet crab that we have had for a little less than a month drown yesterday. Isn't that bizarre that a hermet crab drowns! Only in the Soffos house would such a thing happen. I think God is trying to tell us something about animals. It truly is a huge decision when we bring any other living thing into our house, because its chances aren't good.

Our kids have gone through numerous animals over the past few years. Our first pet, ran away when we moved houses. Then a beta that he had for years(with an amazing will to live, I wasn't the best at remembering to change the water) passed away. Bye Bye Uh-uh(Kensley named it). We had to give a golden retriever away because of the huge holes in our backyard, and hate for the sprinkler system. Then we got a lab, that died. We had to just tell the kids he ran away. And the worst one of all was our miniature dachshund that we had for years. He was ran over when we moved into our new house. I was so crushed about Cocoa I swore off having another pet.

However, while in Gulf Shores we decided the kids could both get a hermet crab. Hermie was Klay's and Kensley named hers Little Girly.

Last night I realized that Hermie was not going to move no matter how much we tapped the cage. Klay puckered up, and kept saying he is just sleeping. It truly broke my heart!

So fair well Hermie. Another Soffos pet has gone to pet heaven.

Jon and Kate Plus 8

While the kids are playing on the water slide I am catching up on some posts, and trying to order all of our vacation pictures. So this post is another that I got from Angie off of her blog. It reminded me of something I found on the internet last night and I wanted to share.

In my house we are huge Jon and Kate fans! We watch every Monday night, and the kids get a special treat by getting to watch it in their rooms while going to sleep. We are constantly talking about things their kids do that remind us of our lives. I think I like watching it so much because it gives me hope that I can do this, my kids aren't going to drive me insane. That woman is in my prayers, I don't know how she can keep it so together. I was very organized, then kids came along and I have no clue where that part of me went. I sincerly hope one day it will return!Ha,ha!

But anyways, I was on the Gosselins website last night, and they have links to some of their favorite things. I found the most adorable gift for the new baby while looking through their favorite things.

Kensley and Klay both have their lovies that they carry everywhere and have to have to go to sleep. Kensley's is her lamb she has had since birth. And Klay has a binkit that has truly gone everywhere. I never let Kensley take her special lamb when she goes out, she takes the replacement. However Klayton, has taken binkit everywhere and several times we have done a panic search for it, late, late at night. I am trying to retire it and just let him keep his replacements(his is hanging by threads). Every time I turn around though he has original binkit!

We have been on the search for this little ones special lovie, and I think this is going to be it. Baby Be Blessed has the most adorable dolls. I like the bunny for the baby. http://www.babybeblesseddolls.com/

I couldn't get my favorite to upload, but I love the chocolate and pink bunny, so so sweet!

You can personalize the scripture and have their name on their also. I just love this and can't wait to get the babies. We are still deciding names so I can't order it just yet. But there will be a big decision made soon on the name. I post it when it is official. If is continues to be a girl, which we have been told. But we also were told it was a boy, lets hope we don't have two! Ha,ha!

Dinner with who?

I thought this was a cute blog, that I saw on one of my favorites. She posted the question of "Who would you have dinner with if you could anyone?" I knew right away my first person. That would be Lucille Ball. I am a huge, huge fan! I have all the box sets of I Love Lucy, and when I'm down in the dumps nothing makes me feel better then watching Lucy re-runs. The fashion and live in her time, is my absoulute favorite. I so wish I could go out everyday as Lucy did in her dresses and heels, but hey my shorts and big tees work just fine for this momma! Ha! I have read alot of her books, but I still have questions I would love to ask her.

My next choice is hard because I really have two people I would like to talk to. I never knew my dad's dad because he died when I was only eight months old. I really love to hear stories about him and look at old pictures. The love my granny has for him, is what I want to have as me and Cabe grow older. He truly was the love of her live and she speaks so highly of him, as does everyone who talks about him. He was a farmer and worked for the railroad, such a hard worker. I love the simple live he lead and the way he raised his family. My dad is one of the most amazing people I have ever known, I truly think he had a great father leading him. I also would love to have dinner with my mom's dad. He died when I was seven so I didn't know him like my sisters. I remember certain things about him, and I think if he was around he and I would still spend alot of time together. My family isn't one of telling stories about old times, and that is probally one of my favorite things to do. Sit around and hear about your heritage. If papa was here I could get him to tell me all about my mom, and I would adore that.

So just for fun, pass on the post and tell your two people you would have dinner with.

Long time, No Post

I am horrible at uploading my pictures right when I take them. Therefore I have like 2000 pics to sort through and upload. I will have some posts of the kids up soon if all goes well. Everytime I have sat down to blog, blogger was messing up. Lets hope you can see the vacation pics before next year. Ha!
